Utility Construction Projects

823 N Dunn ST

Case Date:
3/11/2025

Cylindrical hole about 4" radius drilled into street by fiber-optic workers and left unfilled. Dangerous area because there are no sidewalks along at that location, so people are forced to walk on the street. Hole is closest to SW corner of intersection. Ankle-breaker!

Street & Traffic Signs

2631 E Discovery PKWY

Case Date:
3/7/2024

It seems with the hospital construction that the speed limit signs (20MPH) coming onto E Discovery Pkwy from the bypass were never replaced. There is also a "children at play" sign way up on the hill by the childcare's fence, but there is nothing within driver view, near the road, that indicates this area should be slower and that children may be present. Could you please consider adding these signs for the safety of the children? People have been FLYING through there at 40+ MPH. Thank you.

Potholes, Other Street Repair

321 E 10th St

Case Date:
2/28/2025

Construction site workers have removed a portion of the dumpster enclosure on the alley, sitting at the NW corner of 325 E. 10th property parking lot. This left a dangerous 6" square hole where a support post had previous been. Not clear if the hole is on private property or in the alley, but it is dangerous now for people or small animals.

Blocked Sidewalk

629 N Fairview ST

Case Date:
2/9/2024

Truck trailers partially blocking the sidewalk again. First, thank you to the Engineering Department for getting the business to move the truck out of the way of sidewalk when the sidewalk was the official pedestrian route around the Duke construction across the street in August 2023. Thank you! The problem reappeared this morning, now with a second trailer. I am sending this uReport to the Engineering Department, since you were able to get a remedy quickest last time. But please forward this uReport to Parking Services if that will get a remedy sooner.

Sewer Problems (Sanitary Sewers)

625 W 7th ST

Case Date:
3/12/2025

The manhole cover on the Fairview st. side of this address appears to be leaking some kind of foreign substance that is not water. It may not be serious, but I thought someone should come check it out.

Abandoned Vehicle

1014 W 7th ST

Case Date:
3/2/2021

There has been a PT Cruiser (license plate 612PBD) parked in front of this address since August 2020 at the very least. It has more than one completely flat tire, and license plates dated from 2019. Note in the window states it is a neighbor's car, but that they use bikes more often. This car has not moved at all, and appears completely abandoned in prime street parking, within a neighborhood where parking can be quite tricky.

Water Utility Billing Problems

401 E 12th ST

Case Date:
5/28/2024

The water usage is exceedingly high and we are not sure why. The amount that is recorded as being used seems like way more than we could use, and we suspect there may be an issue with the water meter or a potential leak somewhere that is causing an issue with the reading.

Water Utility Billing Problems

3220 E John Hinkle PL

Case Date:
6/8/2023

I am writing to bring your attention to an urgent matter regarding an unusually high water bill that I have received. My name is Kumar Vinayak, and I am a resident in the Bloomington area. I hope that you can assist me in resolving this issue promptly. Upon reviewing my recent bills, I have noticed a significant discrepancy in the water consumption. In the month of April, the recorded consumption was approximately 30 gallons, while in May, it unexpectedly increased to 35 gallons. These figures are undoubtedly incorrect, as such a volume of water cannot be reasonably consumed by a single individual. To address this concern, we immediately contacted our leasing office, as we suspected a possible emergency situation or water leakage within our house. They promptly responded by inspecting the property thoroughly but found no signs of any leaks or abnormal water usage. This observation leads us to believe that the issue may lie with the meter or its readings, as it seems to be continuously running even when the house is unoccupied. Given our status as students, it is financially burdensome for us to pay the exorbitant amount of approximately $1000 for water alone. This kind of billing discrepancy is highly abnormal, as it greatly surpasses our electricity bill, which amounts to approximately $100 per month. I kindly request your immediate attention to this matter and urge you to investigate the issue thoroughly. I have attached a copy of the bill for your reference. I believe it is essential to rectify this situation as soon as possible to avoid any further financial strain on our part. I appreciate your understanding and assistance in resolving this matter swiftly. Please keep me informed of any progress made in investigating and rectifying the issue. I can be reached at the email address provided in this communication or my flatmate's contact number, +1 (812) 360-0848 (as I am outside Bloomington).
