Parking Permits

1109 East Wylie Street

Case Date:
2/10/2025

Last night I tried for an hour to upload the required documents for a residential parking permit for my son’s car. The system rejects both pdfs and jpegs repeatedly. Today, I came to city hall to get the permit in person, and I was redirected to parking services on south walnut. When I arrived — at 12:45p — only one person appeared to be in the office, and she was unable to process the request and give me a residential parking permit. She indicated that the “person who could handle it,” was at lunch and would return at 1:30p. Like many, I presume, I used my own lunch hour to make an in-person visit to obtain a required residential parking permit. Staffing choices and, essentially, an office closure during a Bloomington resident’s traditional lunch hour seems inefficient and ineffective. I am standing in the parking office awaiting the return of, seemingly, the one person who can process my permit request.

Parking Meters and Citations

612 S Eastside Drive

Case Date:
1/28/2025

No category for 'Parking violations' so please forward this to the right person. Since 1993, when the owner moved to this address, his white truck has been parked in the driveway at 612 S Eastside Drive. As can been seen in the picture from Elevate, it was there too when this picture was taken in 2015. It definitely is 3 or more model years old. The last license sticker that can be seen on it dates from 1975. So it clearly has been in the same location, visible from the street, for more than 20 days (Code 15.04.020 (6): Abandoned Vehicle. The question is: is it mechanically inoperable? That is up to the owner to prove when you ask him to.

Trash

211 1/2 E Cottage Grove AVE

Case Date:
2/10/2025

Please revisit case #200395. This was never taken care of - a box of trash and recycling bin full of non-recyclables is still blocking sidewalk after weeks. Does "citation" mean a fine was issued - one that will actually be collected - or just an ineffectual "Please take care of this" note?

Trash

1528 S Andrew CIR

Case Date:
2/12/2025

Caller to HAND wants to remain anonymous. Reports that neighbors' (they are renters) trash & recycling is consistently overflowing the bins and blowing downhill through the neighborhood. Caller has tried talking to the tenants in the past. He wants to make sure that a citation does not go to the incorrect address since the newly moved in tenants are not responsible for the trash.
