The area is still heavily covered in snow, with most street parking spots completely blocked. My car and others continues to slide, creating unsafe driving conditions. It’s unacceptable that much of downtown Bloomington—including roads and sidewalks—remains in this condition. The city should prioritize clearing these areas and take greater responsibility for the safety of the community.
Received from a Resident in Van Buren Township. I live off Sims lane and have a question? When you try to get out onto Leonard Springs off of Sims there are a bunch of weeds / shrubbery/ trees that totally block the view to the South. So you have to inch out and hope to not get hit in the meantime. And with the way people fly over that hill south of Sims, it can be dangerous. So my question is how can we get those trimmed? It is practically on the road, so not sure if it’s the county or homeowner? I don’t want to cause any problems but also don’t want there to be an accident there. Sims lane traffic plus the Heatherwood traffic makes for a busy intersection. I’ve lived there for 30yrs and this is the worst I’ve seen those weeds / shrubs, whatever it is. Any help would be appreciated!
Sidewalk on N. Smith Rd for Shamrock Pointe Apartments has not been shoveled since first snow storm of this year, nor was it ever salted, forcing me as a disabled man to walk in streets.

People are blowing through this 4 way stop from all directions! This has always been an issue, but even more so from where the road has been closed for so long. There are many residents and pedestrians that cross here which makes it a very unsafe situation. Rumble strips or a temporary flashing stop sign might remind people that they need to stop here!
Please finish traffic line striping and stop bars before winter. Thanks.
Subject: Overgrown Vegetation Blocking Sightlines and Pedestrian Safety Near Bus Stop The bushes and trees along the property line are overgrown and have created a safety hazard for school children who are dropped off at the nearby bus stop and walk along the sidewalk. This is a congested area for both pedestrians and vehicles, especially during school pick-up and drop-off times. The overgrown foliage obstructs the view of drivers turning in and out of the apartment driveway, as well as drivers approaching the intersection. This condition significantly reduces visibility and obstructs a clear sight-triangle. Responded... Hi Nick. First of all, thanks for submitting this uReport. The more folks that say something about it, the better. Second, I know this person and his mother is actually the chair of the Council for Community Accessibility. While neither have directly complained about this issue it has been on our radar as other people have seen him try to navigate that stretch of Smith Road. So I went out and did a full survey from 3rd to 10th Streets and reported every issue along that route. Then I participated in a discussion about it with the Engineering and Planning. It's not so easy to address this one because it's very narrow and can't be widened. It would also be fairly costly to do the whole route. But we have placed it on the sidewalk priority list that was submitted to Planning departments for their next round of sidewalk construction. We won't know how that very limited budget gets spent for a while, but sure hope it includes addressing this one. So that's where we stand on it. Fingers are crossed!
