Unprofessional demolition occurring. Dust and particles (asbestos?) flying everywhere. Once the City/County have given permission to demolish, is there an office that oversees the activity? Who checks for all the lead paint flakes that are released? The crew who did this looked Mennonite/Amish, but they might not be because they were using industrial equipment - and making a huge mess.
Westbound traffic on E Hillside congests at the S Walnut and E Hillside traffic light, which often causes backups and results in traffic blocking the E Hillside and S Washington intersection. Can there be a “do not block intersection” or one of the roadway painted Xs placed at that intersection? This has happened to me numerous times, and I get frustrated and honk, and E Hillside drivers either ignore me, or give me a mean look like this was my fault when they’re blocking the roadway.
sidewalk is blocked along this stretch in a few places by overgrown bushes and ornamental grass. on the corner, the bushes are the responsibility of whoever owns the utility boxes they hide, along the road it's the houses behind the hedge.
The light at 2nd and Patterson needs a longer left turn signal, going from Patterson onto 2nd street. The time of the turn light is way too short. This has been a problem for years. I was the 6th car back in the turn line this morning and had to wait THREE LIGHT CYCLES to even make it through. Please make it a turn signal longer. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stoplights not synched
I witnessed a woman get struck by a pickup truck today at E 3rd and Morningside. This was an accident waiting to happen, as pedestrians and bicyclists on E 3rd Street are constantly risking their lives to cross it. The distance from the crosswalk at Smith Rd to the traffic light at SR 446 is 0.5 miles. (Note, there are also ZERO pedestrian crossing marks at the very busy intersection of 3rd & 446, where people with kids cross to get to Bruester's Ice Creamery.) HUNDREDS of rental units have been built on both sides of 3rd between Park Ridge and 446. A SAFE crossing should be added, with flashers or center island at Park Ridge or Morningside, or a traffic light should be placed at 3rd and Park Ridge.
On September 29, the road project on 2nd Street near Rogers involved shutting down Rogers just north of 2nd Street. I live in that area, and in order to get to my home, I had to get out of my car twice to move blockages in the road. At the intersection of 3rd and Rogers, there was a barricade that I was able to drive by, but it was barely passable for my car and I had to almost drive up on the curb. Then at the intersection of Howe and 2nd, I had to get out of my car to move construction cones. There were cars going through the intersection and it was dark, so that was not a safe situation. Then when I tried to pull into my drive, there were construction barriers blocking it. I had to get out of my car again and ask a street worker to move it. He was very nice, though. The issue only took place that evening, but I wanted to report it since it was difficult and dangerous.
intersection at Sare and Rhorer. If turning left onto Rhorer it's very difficult if not impossible to see around the car to your right that's turning onto Rhorer. Also, cars coming down the hill on Rhorar, to the left are very fast. Should be 4-way stop or traffic light.
Sidewalk along Landmark has no curb ramp on one end for wheelchairs and power chairs to get on and off. And on the other end which was just redone really has no curb ramp either. You might be able to drive an RC car on it that how narrow the flat spot is. You cant drive a chair up on it because its not flat. People in wheelchairs and Powerchairs are avoiding this and going the wrong way down the street towards 3rd in a blind curve. Its only a matter of time before a car rounds that blind curve to find a wheel chair user in the lane also heading towards them. Vacant lot between 3124 and 3120 E Ramble Road. The shrubs and trees branches are encroaching on the public sidewalk. The owner needs to maintain their property so that the sidewalk is able to be traversed and not require pedestrians to walk in the street. Thank you.
