In addition to improper waste disposal, previous incidents have included: • Smoking cannabis openly in the backyard. • Loud parties continuing until 4:00 a.m. • Unauthorized backyard fires without proper safety measures like a firepit. • Failure to maintain the property, such as leaving fallen leaves uncollected. I kindly request the town to investigate these concerns and take appropriate action to address the situation, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. House appears unlocked and accessible to anyone with front glass storm door banging in the wind, back door to basement open many times. A variety of people occasionally enter. Multiple ways to enter house through missing windows etc… With cold weather pipes may have frozen. Tenants have been or are in process of being evicted but meanwhile trash remains that can act as projectiles in high wind damaging nearby people or properties, non functioning vehicle in driveway with open windows etc… Current condition of house is unsafe and unsightly and prevents other neighbors’ enjoyment of their properties and is dangerous in terms of possible illegal activities that could take place in what is for all purposes an abandoned property. Sarge Rentals manages property and is apparently trying to resolve situation over the past two months.

Trash pickup was Monday morning. It is now Wednesday and the sidewalk is blocked by two trash cans. They are on Ballantine Road north of Hunter.

Recycling bin full of non-recyclables has been sitting on the sidewalk for weeks in front of this house. Not sure if it belongs to that location, but if someone at the house took some initiative, pedestrians would be grateful.

This will be my 4th winter in bloomington as I am a senior in college and this city really needs some MAJOR renovations to the roads, sidewalks, trees blocking stop signs, etc. My particular issue right now is the extreme safety issue that it poses when the city fails to salt the sidewalks. In my hometown, there was RARELY a time that it snowed and there wasn’t salt on every sidewalk in town, or at least the sidewalks that any students would need to use to walks or ride buses to school. I understand that Bloomington is a bit of a larger town and some of this could be an issue for the IU campus management too, but it seems like the city fails to salt the sidewalks if they ever even do. They should be ensuring that sidewalks get salted even if there isn’t a high chance of snow. For example, tonight at the IU purdue game on november 30th, I saw so many people slipping and sliding and it did not seem like there was any salt on the sidewalks anywhere near 17th street. I almost fell multiple times and I was closely looking at the ground for salt and it did not seem like there was any. I have also noticed similar issues in previous years when there has been snow, the sidewalks are never salted or cleared for students walking to class from off campus. I know you can probably only control what is considered the city of bloomington and not IU campus, but if we are going to care enough about safety to line the entirety of 17th street’s sidewalks with fences and security guards, you would think the least you guys could do would be put down some salt. I’m really failing to understand why it is SO hard for this city to put salt down, like my dad taught me how to salt our driveway when I was like 14. I swear I could put salt down all of 17th street faster than this city could because this city isn’t even capable of maintaining streets and sidewalks that aren’t covered in potholes and uneven surfaces.

I have multiple photos but it will not allow me to upload. They are repeatedly throwing trash in their yard and it gets into my yard and I have to clean it up they leave the trash bins out all week and it’s going to cause animals and I’ve tried talking to them but nobody will ever come to the door they have lived here less then a year and I am constantly having to pick up their trash out of my yard and it makes the neighborhood look trashy.

Over the past year and a half I have asked HAND and Sarge Rentals to remove the garbage cans from the tree row of the 600 block of University St. HAND finally tild me they were fining the rooming house at 624 S Fess. That did not help. I asked Sarge Rentals to remove the Rumpke trash and recycling bins once they switched over to Avas. They did not. Now the Avas bins are in the tree row along with the Rumpke ones and another waste basket (see picture). When I moved here 30 years ago I went to a city meeting to complain about the trash at the rooming house. The problem was remedied by placing a dumpster in the alley behind the building. That was replaced by the Rumpke bins. None of the residents nor Sarge move the bins from the tree row after trash is taken. No other homes on University St behave in this manner. PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO REMEDY THIS EYESORE!
