Traffic along 17th St (in both directions) has been backed up during rush hour for a couple of weeks. The problem stretches from Dunn St to Monroe St. The worst is at the College and Walnut lights. People can’t turn on 17th because of the back up and are then blocking traffic. Please help, thanks!
All streetlights are out on S Washington St. from E Third St. to at least E Smith. It is very dark and worrisome at night; there is very low visibility when I walk home. One of the posts has electrical wiring coming out of it. Many streetlight posts show damage. I first brought this issue up with Duke Energy and they said the City of Bloomington maintains this stretch of lights.
Traffic backups on 17th have been really bad recently. The backups start from College/Walnut in both directions. Westbound traffic is sometimes backed up to somewhere between Lincoln & Dunn, and eastbound traffic is sometimes backed up to somewhere between Madison & Maple. This occurs at various times per day, not just at rush hour. Last night at 7:45pm it took me ~10 minutes to get from Grant to College. It also causes problems for drivers turning from College/Walnut onto 17th because the traffic already on 17th St has it gridlocked between College & Walnut. I don't know what has happened recently with construction, detours, light syncing, etc., but it's really bad and wasn't like this last school year.
Timing of light seems off. Please check.
Malcolm Abrams and I own the bungalow housing the Bloom Magazine office at 414 W 6th Street. The alley to our west (when facing the building) sees a surprising amount of traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian due in part to the location of the County probation department's testing office just north of us along the alley. The alley surface is in poor condition with ruts and uneven patches. The utilities department is in the process of repairing and resurfacing a portion of our lot and alley due to water line damage from AEG fiber installation. I've been told that the city will pave some well-used alleys when in disrepair. I'm wondering whether this alley would qualify particularly given that the paving equipment will be onsite already. Missing street sign above stop sign. Stop sign on grant street headed south. In the intersection of 11th.
There is a small area on the side of the road that has crumbling asphalt, which contributes to the storm water drainage issues as rocks get dropped into the drain after significant rain. Crews have patched areas along the street over the years, might be worth a review.
There's been an abandoned Sidewalk Closed sign sitting on the sidewalk at S. Highland and E. Winslow for over a month.
There's a long pothole in front of the driveway to 1100 E. Azalea Ln that's getting progressively worse.
The westbound E 3rd St left turn traffic signal for cars turning left onto Atwater continues to cycle green every time regardless of whether or not a car is waiting in that turn lane. I've reported this before.
