"Tree-Keeper" database reports 56 Ailanthus altissima ("tree of heaven") trees being maintained by the City. Given this is an invasive plant and is known to be the primary food source for Lycorma delicatula (spotted lanternfly), should the City be obliged to remove these trees that are listed on the State list: ("Prohibited Invasive Terrestrial Plants [312 IAC 18-3-25]", https://ag.purdue.edu/department/entm/iisc/invasive-plants.html) ? If HAND is going to proactively threaten residents by "asking" them to remove something that is not on the State list (e.g., bamboo), it seems profoundly hypocritical for them to not address a serious ecological issue that they are helping to advance.

Last summer I contacted the city (Ureport case 192429) regarding city trees in my front yard (tulip poplar) that were infected by a "tulip tree scale" insect. I live in Tamarron and there are a number of other tulip poplar trees infected by the same bug. Haskell Smith said to contact him this spring to let him know and the city will treat the trees to keep them from dying. During a meeting with today that Mr. Hazen had with the planning department, he mentioned concerns about the vegetation in the median of 3rd Street in the vicinity of his property at 1900 West 3rd Street. His concerns include: the height and density of the median vegetation prevents visibility across 3rd Street, prevents travelers on the roadway from seeing traffic in the opposing lanes, and prevents seeing someone who might be trying to cross 3rd Street mid block, etcetera. He asks that the vegetation be cut back.

There is a tree, i have continued issuing complaints about, in front of metal works that is dying and falling over. Since i have been here for just one year the tree has fallen quite a bit more, its now to the point it has raised the entire sidewalk from road to the building and isnt stopping. The sidewalk cant be ground down anymore as the raise of the sidewalk has become too high. On the building side, it has raised the sidewalk all the way to my handicapped ramp and doesnt not seem it will stop anytime soon. On the street side, it has now made such a high difference between the sidewalk and the curb that people trip over all the time. The tree is dying and there is constantly branches and debris all over cars. Before anymore damage occurs, especially to the building and the handicapped ramp, along with the entire sidewalk itself, can it please be removed? On this stretch of 6th street every old dying tree has been replaced but much smaller reasonable trees except this one, and just one other further up to the square. Not only would removing these old decrepit damage causing trees be very benefifial to society especially the handicapped, but to replace these two dying trees with smaller matching trees would make our street more beautiful and noticeable and over all safer for everyone. Please very much consider coming and meeting with me about this tree. Thank you.

To Whom It May Concern, I’m writing to raise ongoing and serious concerns about safety at Ferguson Dog Park. As a local resident and dog owner, I want to be able to use this public space, but I and many others have avoided it due to recurring problems with aggressive dogs and irresponsible owners. The park has unfortunately gained a reputation for being unsafe, especially in the large dog sections. Despite the park offering one section for small dogs and two for large dogs, the issue lies not in the layout but in the lack of enforcement when it comes to aggressive behavior. On multiple occasions, I’ve encountered people who knowingly bring aggressive, territorial dogs and allow them to instigate fights or intimidate other dogs. One woman even said to me, “Sorry, my dogs are just really aggressive,” without any acknowledgment that such dogs likely should not be in an off-leash public space. While there are signs advising people to report aggressive dogs to Animal Control, this is a reactive measure. It doesn’t prevent the problem, it merely suggests action after something bad happens. That approach is not good enough in a setting where dogs and people are vulnerable to serious injury. I urge the city to consider a more proactive and enforceable approach to managing the park, such as: • Installing surveillance cameras with audio capabilities to capture incidents involving aggressive dogs. This would make it easier to identify repeat offenders and enforce fines, bans, or other penalties. • Requiring owners to register their dogs for park access, with confirmation of vaccinations and agreement to behavioral rules. • Posting clear behavioral guidelines with visible consequences for aggressive or dangerous behavior. • Adding a reporting system with follow-up, so those who witness aggressive behavior can easily report it with time-stamped video or audio reference. • Random patrols or staff check-ins, especially during peak hours. Ferguson Dog Park has the potential to be a tremendous community asset, but right now, many responsible dog owners feel excluded due to fear for their dogs’ safety. I hope the city will take these concerns seriously and implement stronger, preventative measures to ensure a safer and more enjoyable environment for everyone. Thank you for your time and attention. A tree was downed on Wednesday due to the high winds. It has also taken down cables from the neighboring apartment building - which may hazardous. Additionally, the fallen limb is blocking both sidewalk area and private parking.

Just curious if any State/County/City agency or legislative body bans smoking outdoors in public parks by statute/ordinance/regulation. Specifically, there is a cigar-smoker (loud, older, possibly un-housed) who often sits on a bench near the NW corner of People's Park about 11am and smokes a cigar that can be smelled by anyone who walks through the park and even across the street at the bagel shop. Just wondering if he could be asked to smoke where other people are not forced to smell it.
