Thanks for the consideration, it’s an excellent idea, if this has be planned before the construction started will save lots of worries. But it’s not too late, hope take action as quickly as possible, before any big disaster happening.
Pickup truck and trailer park on Heritage Rd permanently, caused some part of road not being driven on and things starte to grow into the road., which might ruin that part of road eventually.
Thanks for the reply. I am taking about the situation now. When the time I back up from my driveway to the Heritage, I looked right, left, till no car in sight. I slowly back to the street, immediately a loud squeaky brake behind me. A red car from 3rd street almost hits my car. Of course those cars can park wherever they allowed after the construction done on Smith Rd. But now it’s so dangerous! You should not wait till something terribly happened before taking actions.
I reported the driving situation on Heritage Rd. Today when I back up to Heritage Rd, the ankle of the next door car parking on the street do block the view. Only when the time I am all out I saw the car from 3 rd street, and the driver in that car be able to see me. It’s not speeding problem, it’s the blocking of view make the back up so dangerous. Citizen’s safety is more important than individuals’ convenient. Please be more concerned.
Some thing is going on over Smith Rd. Travel is very heavy on Heritage Rd . Before, the Heritage Rd is a side street, parking is allowed, even it’s a public street not a public parking area. Now it become a Main Street, park on the side of the street really creates a very dangerous situation. Is possible city can provide a better place for those park on the street to move to? It’s much safe for the rest of the drivers.
Thanks for the investigation. I learned a lot. Even it’s public street, not a public parking lot, legal parking is above the legal driving. If the driver hits the legal parking vehicle is the driver’s responsibility. This is so ridiculous! The one parked his vehicle on the public street is the one created a dangerous condition for the drivers. The main purpose of a street is for people to travel. From one place to another. I don’t mean you need stop the parking on public street law, but make it more acceptable. I remember when my kids were in IU, we had 3 cars, when their friends came visit, everyone parked on the grass area to leave more room for other drivers to pass. Things changed within the legal parking on the public street rule. I felt so sorry for my neighbor who bumped into officer’s vehicle. It must be a big shock for her. To tell the truth under such a hazardous situation, a person insist to hold his privileges of legal parking on the public street despite the harmful fact is intentionally create troubles for the other drivers. It is necessary to make this legal parking on the public street rule into a safe one for the drivers.
I just checked your response, someone comment on my garden, maybe this is not your area but related to legal parking on the public street. The neighbor parked at that special spot because whenever he spotted me work in my front yard, he will walk openly to his vehicle, sit on the driver’s sit to stare at me. Who will pay any attention to what his doing? It’s not a peeping Tom, but a legal Tom. if I don’t go home he will be there as long as I am in the front yard. If it’s you what can you do? I live at 117 S. Heritage Rd. It happened again, I looked right and left, no cars. When I backed up into the street, there’s a car right behind me. Of course I can only see the very small conner of 3rd street, nothing behind neighbor’s car. This is very stressful for me. I have to say, Park Ridge has the best driveway in town. Can easily fit in two cars at least if it’s used for vehicles parking only. If most of the driveway used for storage and create the hazardous for other people, it’s an inconsiderable sin.
The staff forgot to report his legal parked on the public street vehicle been hit by Mrs. Cookman. Our district representative said the same thing, park on the public street will slow down the traffic while she pushed hard to spend more tax money to rebuild new humps or cushions. Why she just parked her own vehicle on the public street to make a good example to slow down the traffic instead? Slow down the traffic does not mean to prevent the accident.
