uReport Case #210299 Attn: Jeff Yutmeyer I want to re-open this case because when I went to the rear of my yard this afternoon, I saw that Xfinity/Comcast, cut the cable from my house and let it drop into the thorn bushes. This presents more of a fire hazard because there is a layer of dry leaves on the ground; the cable is still attached to the electrical pole. The property needs to be inspected by a City official and repaired or condemned. Under Bloomington Municipal Code Chapter 17.16, a building is considered unsafe if it is: Structurally Impaired: Posing a danger to persons or neighboring property. Unsanitary: Lacking adequate ventilation, light, or sanitation to protect health. Observing this property over the last 18 months, there has been no change in this property, except that the condition is getting worse. Locals state the home has been in derelict conditions for many years. Damaged roof. A tarp does not constitute a roof. There is no ventilation in the house or working exhausts. Windows do not open/close. No heating or cooling in the structure. Dangerous electrical resulting in the occasional use of a small light. No plumbing in the structure. Resident carries buckets of water from nearby and can be seen washing his hair and body outside of his front porch. No functional bathroom inside the home. Occupant cannot flush waste properly. The entire place appears to be a fire hazard. Evidence of structural fire damage that may also impact the electrical and plumbing concerns. Overgrowth vegetation and weeds. Inoperable vehicles in front and behind the unsafe structure. The severe neglect of this property is diminishing the quality of life for the community and hindering its overall desirability. The dilapidated condition of the property presents a substantial public eyesore and poses a detriment to the neighborhood character. Please take action to keep Bloomington beautiful and avoid causing a serious decline in neighborhood standards for the entire City of Bloomington.

Trash has been scattered across the entire driveway for months with piles of more trash accumulating outside next to garage. Excessive growth to the point it looks like the movie setting for I Am Legend. After each storm large branches fall into street and are not picked up until neighbors just do it themselves. With the persistent amount of disregard to upkeep the outside it’s worrisome if there are hazards inside.

There is an apartment complex which has been in business for over thirty years that has had graffiti on the retaining wall for over six months. It is located at the corner of Fess and 2nd Street. I initially thought that the owners of the complex would do something about it but so far, nothing.

2nd St is trashed from S Walker Street to Buildings Trade Park. Recent construction did a terrible job patching their work, it’s hazardous in many places.

Bike lanes on N. Smith Rd.need to be swept. The south bound lane from the Short Stop to Grandview Is particularly bad - full of yard waste, road debris, small bits of gravel, etc. Near the top of the hill, where the 14 foot sign is, there is a bush growing over the lane and face-slapping vegetation hanging down over the lane. I’m wondering if there is any regular schedule for sweeping bike lanes? At best, it seems this one gets swept about once a year. Sweeping the hill every couple of months wouldn’t be too often. The bike lane is narrower than recommended width to begin with. It gets really dangerous when we have to ride near the white lane (or sometimes in the car lane). The painted lines make drivers believe everything is ok as long as they stay between their lines and they don’t realize how closely they are passing vulnerable bicyclists. I’m sorry I don’t have pictures of the bike lane. But it should be easy to see what I’m writing about, especially if you are on a bicycle.

We have an area right next to some storm drain manhole covers where a section of ground has fallen in. This area is starting to cave in under the roadway as well.

There was an accident on the street in front of my house last night. It damaged a tree in the grass between the sidewalk and the street. (4037 E Bennington, Gentry Honours ) Bark was torn off 3/4th way around the tree. It will likely die if not treated. Please have someone look at it. Also there is car part debris (bumper and grill) that needs removed.
