Potholes, Other Street Repair

Case Date:
6/9/2021

Just checking in on closed case, thank you. Could sure use some asphalt thrown down if delay in paving Pickwick will be long. #175370 Potholes, Other Street Repair: Other: As rain come downhill on the street, it sometimes overwhelms our drainage tunnel. Over the years this created a line of crumble in Pickwick, in the last two years this has become a serious hazard for bicycles, pedestrians and not too good for our cars. Is there a chance we could get some blacktop put down on this? I'll be taking bids to resurface my driveway this summer, and it would be best if the street was repaired before this work gets done. Thank you! Bring back the arts to the city farmers market. Everything needs to be in a central location. I am not going to go out of my way twice a week to a Tuesday market and Saturday when I work on tuesdays. There’s a great need for Tuesday market, but it’s just for food. Please bring back the culture, life, art, and vibrancy to the original staple of the BTown farmers market. We want the vendors, food, and music/art all in one

Campaigning now to have parks accomplish their master plan goal of more greenspace/parks on the east side… turn the giant old Macy’s parking lot into a park. Please this is never utilized as parking and it is just a bunch of concrete and pavement over there. The mall is dying but parks are not!

Trash

Case Date:

Trash not completely picked up. It looks like they barely tipped my trash can because the heavy trash bag in the bottom did not come out. And it's the bag that will get stinky before next week. Since I pay for the service I expect that it be done properly. My address is 401 North Sheffield drive and the trash is still by the curb. I'm attaching a picture of the contents that are left.

I am quite concerned with the continued lack of on duty lifeguards at the Bryan Park Pool during swimming lessons. Three days ago (6/7/21), I almost ended up jumping into the water myself to save my actively drowning 3 year old because her instructor had taken a child to the bathroom leaving another instructor to watch both his and her classes, unsuccessfully. In my incident report, I stated that there needs to be a lifeguard on duty other than the instructors because they cannot reasonably be expected to see everything around them and it's not the parents job either. Mind you, I have many years of being both a lifeguard, aquatics director, swimming instructor, and outdoor educator under my belt when I say this. It's not just my opinion. I was told in a follow-up meeting the next day with the aquatics director, Shanda(?), that there would be a lifeguard on deck or in the chair from now on. This, unfortunately was not the case, yet again, at tonight's lesson. I have attached a picture (I hope) showing that there are no lifeguards in the stand or on deck anywhere near the active lessons. If the argument is that the instructors are also watching the kids, please refer to Indiana Health Code 410 IAC 62.135 Lifeguards (g). I am filing this complaint through the city not to be a pain, as I've dealt with my share of those over the years, but because I genuinely believe this is an unsafe situation based on experience. Furthermore, it clearly doesn't seem to be resonating at the facility level.
