Hello, I am actually a resident of Vigo County but I lived in Bloomington years ago while Mayor Kruzan was a State Rep. I wrote to him after the Matthew Shepard murder urging him to support hate crime legislation and he responding with a handwritten letter promising to fight hate crimes. I still have the letter framed and that response made Mark Kruzan my favorite politician. I was overjoyed to hear he became mayor of Bloomington after I moved away. He is a great man. Hearing that he performed several same sex marriages last February further proved that this is a man who firmly believes in equality for all. I am writing because my partner and I are visiting New York City next year to be legally married and we would love to have a letter from him that we could frame and display at our wedding.

Please consider putting a traffic signal in at the pedestrian crosswalk near 10th and Fee on IU's campus. The continuous stream of students regularly causes traffic backups 20 minutes long. Today, I watched my bus take 15-20 minutes to traverse about a half mile just because there was no way to make the thousands of students crossing the street at that point pause. Only one cr can cross the crosswalk at a time, because it is a lucky breat when there is more than a 3 second break in the stream of pedestrians. Please address this so that it won't take me 45 minutes to drive two miles.

This has been going on for a week. I guess I'll just call in to pay it tomorrow.

The street light across from our house on 1104 S Covenanter Drive has been out. We don't know how long, but since there was an attempted burglary a block away...we would like it to be fixed. Last time it was working we thought there might be something wrong with the light because it was on 24 hours a day. Even during the day time. The light is located on the opposing side of our house on Covenanter Drive.

Hello! Was poking around the site, and noticed a couple of problems:
1) The Police Department's sub-site has a link (in its 'Information for Police Department' list) for something called "UCR Crime Statistics". The URL for this is set to http://bloomington.in.gov/documents/viewDocument.php?document_id=689
.
However, loading that just leads to a blank page within the City site's theme/framework.
2)The Police Department's article "What to do if stopped by a police officer" (http://bloomington.in.gov/documents/viewDocument.php?document_id=912 ) has a typo. An instance of the word 'enforcement' is spelled as 'enforecement'. Down in the "SOME THINGS TO REMEMBER" section.
Thank you for looking into these!
Potholes, Other Street Repair

There are two deteriorating areas in front our home on S. Kings Court. They were repaired once by the street department several years ago and have returned. I believe the one near my driveway is made worse each time the city garage truck pulls in to empty our cans. The top two to three inches of the road surface is torn away and it is starting to tear into the bottom layers. The other in the middle of the street is about three feet long and 6 to 8 inches deep. When my the city last repaired these sections, they coated the areas with hand thrown mix and tapped it down by hand…IT LASTED ABOUT TWO WEEKS! It was a bandaid patch, folks! Isn't it more cost effective to fix these potholes correctly the first time…?

I have a question regarding the lights on the tennis courts at Wilson and Bryan Parks. I recently went over to Wilson Park and noticed that the lights which use to come on at 7:30 PM are no longer being turned on. The same is true at Bryan Park. Is this a permanent change until spring? I noticed at Wilson Park that although the tennis court lights were turned off the parking lights still were on. Is there any chance that the lights on the tennis courts, even if just on one court, could be left on for a little longer say into the end of November, in the evenings? Though cold the weather has not reached a point where it is unreasonable to play outside in the evenings. I realize the answer is probably no, especially in light of budgeting concerns, but I just felt it was worth asking. Thanks
Sincerely,
Chris Sontag

If city is responsible for sidepath on the 45/46 bypass, there is a large rock and broken glass covering the path just south of 17th Street on the east side of the bypass. Also a fair amount of broken glass in patches continuing north and west.
