I don’t know if I am contacting the correct department. We walked by a retention pond and huge drainpipe on Buick-Cadillac Dr. A foul-smelling odor, smelling like potent bubblegum, grew in odor and started taking our breath away. I was reminded of a similar odor emanating from an Eli Lilly plant on the south side of Indianapolis. Should this water area in the midst of commercial activity be analyzed? We don’t wish to breathe in toxic fumes.

Spring has started and the outdoor smoke coming from the Barbecue is in full force at the Short Stop food-mart on North Smith Road. My wife and I had three meetings with the City Council about this issue in 2015. And 2 recorded meetings with the council as a whole and a second meeting a few weeks later. The smoke issue was to be addressed for this location. But Chris Smith sold the store without implementing the standards the City Council had requested he perform. He was supposed to install and indoor smoker by December of (2015) that never happened. And he then sold the business in spring of 2016. As an example of how bad this smoke is. I hung wet laundry outside yesterday (Wednesday 4-25-18). Hoping for that nice fresh air smell when it was dry. Our clothing smelled like we had been next to a campfire. So I had to rewash all of the clothing. This has become a HUMAN HEALTH hazard and it has not been taken seriously. The city did nothing after our meetings to address SMOKE issues from cooking outdoors. I really hate to call the Fire department each time I smell smoke. As the cost to the city will be ridiculous for putting out (3) outdoor smokers. But that is what I am going to start doing. As we cannot breath. She had a lung removed and everyone is turning a blind eye towards this fact. Let me know what the city can do. Our district representative Allison Chopra was at the meetings as she was running for office and won the election. But I was told she had slept since the meetings and did not remember the restrictions placed on the smoke issue. On Friday, July 12, a crew from JE Reedy pushed through my double locked gate to clear a path so they could install fiber overhead (in a neighborhood that already has fiber). They seriously cut at least 3 trees: 2 are trees that get no taller than 15 feet, and a pine that was near the pole they needed to climb (Duke has cleared this area for years and never had to hack the pine). They said that they came by on Thursday but they did not leave any notice that they would be working in my backyard so they were trespassing. They could have done their work without destroying my fence row but that would have involved creativity and a little effort. I am sickened, angry and sad and want someone in the City to see this mess and come up with a way to make this right. I have several photos but could only upload one.
