Multiple incidents of two toy size dogs (possibly Pomeranian and Shitzu) being off leash in an un-fenced area which allows them to run into Grimes (a very busy through steeet). Multiple incidents of dogs being left unattended and found up to a block away from the residence. Today, Sunday September 28, Pomeranian was approached while actively in the middle of the street away from the resident and subsequent home, dog began growling although it was slowly moving towards. Asked resident why dog was off leash and looked like a stray, she stated “they just get out sometimes” implying this is a recurring issue. Also to this fact, the dogs have been observed in an unsafe environment for multiple weeks
Dead possum across sidewalk
Dead Raccoon on the road for 2 days.
Small dog is left outside in backyard of 500 S. Hawthorne all day and well into the night. The dog barks a lot, especially at night, and it's unclear whether anyone is present at home regularly. The dog used to get loose and run all over the neighborhood. It even bit a neighbor. This is a sadly neglected pet and should be saved from this cruel situation.
Phone call reported handicap ramp on building 600, 2500 S. Rockport Road, being inaccessible. Said landlord is not fixing it appropriately.
Massive piles of trash are blocking the sidewalk as of 8:45pm on Wednesday May 10. Piles are in front of 424 E. 6th Street and 426 E. 6th Street. Hopefully it is trash night and it won't be there in the morning.
Tree has fallen and is across the Polly Grimshaw Trail. This is just to the east of Pete Ellis Drive. Needs a crew with equipment to get in there and clear the trail. Thanks,
My friend, who uses a wheelchair for mobility, and I went to the Office Lounge on Saturday night. While the building is accessible the bathrooms are not. The door was not wide enough for him to enter and he has a small manual chair. A larger motorized wheelchair would not fit either. The manager apologized and offered to clear the women's bathroom, but he had already looked at the door and determined it was not wide enough either. Besides that, I don't think offering another genders bathroom would count as accessibility? I know the OL has been around a long time and I assume there is some grandfathering of pre-accessibility guidelines, but at some point don't they have to come "up to code"? Is that only if they do renovations? How long can they remain un-accessible? I hope there is someone who can address this issue because we would like to be able to visit the OL again, but will not if he can't use the restroom while there. Thank you for your help!
I use a power wheelchair, and it is very difficult for me to navigate the route to school due to several very uneven sidewalks and curbs. My Mom and I took pictures of the worst places, and I'll send them block by block. This first one is of the curb/alley of the block I live on.
