This is my second official noise complaint against Juannita's Mexican Restaurant, located at 620 W. Kirkwood Ave. Bloomington, IN 47404. The restaurant staff uses outdoor speakers to play music that can be heard outside property lines--I live across the street and can hear this music in my living room and bedroom, at times clearly enough for it to disrupt my sleep. I have complained directly to Juannita's management by phone, email, and in person on several occasions, to no lasting avail. Last May, I submitted a uReport regarding this issue and received a prompt and professional response from Jason Carnes, the Assistant Director of Small Business Relations. Mr. Carnes reached out to the Juannita's manager with a warning about the City’s noise ordinance, which seemed to be effective for a time. However, the music has recently become a problem again. I am a graduate student at IU, and dreading the prospect of facing another school year of being unable to concentrate or relax in my living space. Please let me know what further steps I can take to hold my neighbors accountable for this noise violation. Thank you, Kaitlin Mackenzie

Why can't a store like Vintage Wearhouse on 4th St buy used items from local individuals and a store like Once Upon a Child can? Seems like whatever regulation governs that is incongruous.

Hello! I had a collection judgement filed against me from Fieldstone Housing Association (west side of bloomington), and I paid the amount I owned them. I am looking for the release form saying that I have paid off the judgement and the collection. Would you be willing to provide that collection clearance to me at the email address in this form? Lack of full attendance of the members of the Board of Zoning Appeals over at least the last three months is seriously hampering the capacity of the City to handle land use matters in an efficient and timely manner. The Board of Zoning Appeals has cancelled its regular meeting for July 25, 2024 for a lack of quorum. While the BZA did technically have a quorum in May and June, there were fewer than all 5 members present for the entirety of either of these meetings. City council and the mayor need to appoint BZA members who are taking this responsibility seriously without repeated absences.
