Sewer Problems (Sanitary Sewers)

Case Date:
6/19/2014

Noticed water on top of the water meter in my parent's front yard at 3221 N Kingsley Drive, 47404. Could there be a leak at the water meter?

Traffic Signals

Case Date:
6/23/2014

I realize that this is state and not a city issue, but I'm hoping you can escalate it. The pedestrian island at the NW corner of 10th and the Bypass has a defective crosswalk signal. This is for the crossing from the island south across the mouth of 10th street. It does not give the verbal cue to "wait" and it does not trigger the visual pedestrian signal (white silhouette). Could you please notify the proper state authorities? Thank you, Bob Flynn CIB Parking & Transportation Team UITS Indiana University

Street Lights

Case Date:
6/24/2014

There is a street light out when you turn into Winslow Farm into Sweetbriar Court, turn left go around to the next right and the light is on that street. Last year I had asked if our our area could be considered for additional street lights and we have not heard anything back.

Other

Case Date:
6/26/2014

I'm hoping this is the right place for this comment. I have a complaint about the Taste of Bloomington...if this isn't the right place, please tell me. anyway, the problem stems from the public hand washing stations located by the Port A Jons. I used the restroom, walked over to one of the stations to wash my hands. Soaped my hands up and proceeeded to wash the soap off. There was no water. At none of the stations...I was stuck with soap all over my hands. I had nothing to wipe my hands on except my shirt. which then left an ugly and embarrassing design. I was not happy. And later on, when I bought more food, (a Jankos ribeye sandwich), it tasted like soap. Not pleasant. If you're going to have a hand washing station, either make sure there's an ample supply of water, or use straight hand sanitizer that requires no water.

Recycling

Case Date:
6/27/2014

The Solid Waste District hours are terrible. I was just turned away at 5:34pm as were a bunch of others (cars lined up behind me trying to leave the lot, so they expected it to be open too). If the hours were friendly to the people trying to recycle they would be open MORE on the weekends, not less. And they would be open MORE after 5pm, not open during 9-5. Unless you're trying to pick up recycling primarily from servers and bartenders, these hours do not make sense.

Blocked Street

Case Date:
6/30/2014

Apartment building (Hyatt Place) construction on S. 4th Street between College and Madison has been frequently blocking traffic or limiting it to one lane near the B-Line for the past 8-12 months. There is rarely anybody directing traffic (and if there is, it is usually a construction worker who only sometimes has a handheld stop sign). Construction vehicles often dart out into the street during high traffic times (morning and evening work rushes) and block entrance to nearby apartment buildings. Furthermore, lack of barricades or proper containment causes debris, shrapnel, and other detritus to spill into the street from construction vehicles and dumpsters, often causing hazardous conditions for drivers and vehicles. My own vehicle was recently damaged by stray debris (which was impossible to avoid) and may even be totaled as a result. This also creates dangerous conditions for pedestrians on the sidewalks and makes it impossible for pedestrians on the B-Line to see oncoming traffic before crossing 4th street.
