Traffic Suggestions

2106 E 2nd ST

Case Date:
9/8/2024

I live in the apartment building on the corner of 2nd and High street. The entrance to its parking lot is from High street, very close to the corner. Any time there's a car stopped at the light the entrance is blocked, and the light is delayed for those cars, so unless you are coming in from the south, you have to wait for those cars to go, blocking traffic behind you, or go around the block. Could it be possible to paint the sign in front of the parking lot entrance that cars should not stop there for the light, but a little further from the entrance, and should not block the entrance to the lot? Thank you for consideration!

Traffic Related Complaints

1208 W 2nd ST

Case Date:
7/11/2024

Westbound traffic on 2nd Street are trying to turn into the new Rockets Convenience Store. I've been in the left turn-lane for Patterson, and someone crossed the double-yellow line to make his own "turn lane" to go into Rockets. The way the entry is shaped there should be no left turn into the facility. Westbound traffic should turn on Patterson and access Rockets the back way. There have been other posts on social media about this. There needs to be a "No Left Turn" sign or something there - it's a prime spot for an accident.

Traffic Related Complaints

Gates Dr & Alexander Dr

Case Date:
1/3/2025

When there is medium to heavy traffic, this 4-way stop sign between Jonathan Dr and Alexander Dr becomes dangerous. Drivers lose their patience and take off when it is not their turn, resulting in near accidents and testy confrontations. Additionally, the traffic begins to back up into the more busy streets (3rd St and the shopping plaza), causing further delays. We need a roundabout at this 4-way stop to alleviate traffic and dangerous interactions. This would also provide better crossing infrastructure for pedestrians who use the sidewalk. Thank you!

And a long were the brown fence is it looks like a jungle. Students walk there dogs there and a lot of them walk them along the street because they do not want to walk Thur there. I see every day and evening some rough looking people hangout in there . There is no lighting along there a good place to get jumped and robbed or worst. It needs to be cleaned up .

Line of Sight

3906 E Brighton Crst Rd

Case Date:
3/11/2025

Tree and brush growth needs to be cut back to provide better visibility at the intersection of Brighton Crest and Smith Road. When you are exiting from Brighton Crest facing west and looking south, the tree and brush growth limits your line of sight. Traffic travels at high speed (much faster than the posted speed limit) which further compounds this problem. The hilly nature of Smith Road also makes the line of sight less. Increased speed enforcement and tree and brush removal would make this much safer. As a longer term project, Smith Road needs to be redesigned and developed with considerations made for vehicles, pedestrians, and bicycles. This is a dense residential area and yet Smith Road remains a hilly and dangerous country road.

Parks & Playgrounds

The same group of people is claiming and staying in the gazebo at the Building and Trades park every single day. They are there from open to close, sometimes sleeping on the ground as if it is their personal camp site. Nobody else has a chance to use the shelter because this group is there the entire time the park is available for use. This was a problem last year, and the group referred to the park as their "turf" during an altercation with my neighbors. My house was recently broken into, and it concerns me to know that there are people who can just sit there all day and see exactly when we are coming or going. I don't mind people using the park (because public use is the purpose of a park), but I think it is unreasonable for one group of people to practically live in the park and claim the shelter every day, to the exclusion of other park users. It would be helpful if they could inhabit a different park - or just be somewhere else - on at least some days.
