B-Line Trail adjacent to 300 & 400 block of Morton St
- Case Date:
- 9/27/2025
In 2024, the City of Bloomington planted native species along the west side of the B-Line trail adjacent to the 300 & 400 block of Mortons St. After a year of growth the portion next to the B-Line trail looks fine; however the “back side” of this planted area that is on the east side of Morton St is heavily overgrown, encroaching 3 to 4 feet into Morton St, obstructing traffic, pedestrians and bikers on Morton St. this is becoming a safety issue due to the narrowing of the street die to overgrown, and un-kempt planting of native plants along the B-Line trail.
Requesting that the City of Bloomington groom the back side of this native planting, along Mortton St as to not obstruct the normal use of Morton shared by pedestrians, bikes and traffic.

Lamppost #142 light is out on the B-Line trail. It is the first lamppost on the west side of Rogers Street near the City Hall Plaza. This is a dangerous crosswalk as cars often speed through the walk.
Sidewalk Snow Removal
B-Line Trail between 4th and Kirkwood
- Case Date:
- 1/16/2025
As someone who walks a lot, I appreciate the B-Line trail and how well the city maintains it, including promptly clearing snow. So I was disappointed today when I had to tiptoe through ice on the trail near WonderLab, between 4th and Kirkwood. Thank you.

Whatever is in the trash in the bus stop smells like a decomposing animal and is attracting a LOT of flys.

Traffic Signals
Basswood & Bloomfield Rd
- Case Date:

Left turn signal from Oakdale Dr onto West Bloomfield does not provide sufficient opportunity. Present timing is only sufficient for one to two vehicles to turn through green. Flashing yellow is only available if other vehicles activate sensors in other lanes. The result is a maximum of only two to three vehicles making the left turn safely per cycle, although there are often 6-8 in queue. Request adjustment of inductive loop sensor timing to achieve improved flow and eliminate multi-cycle wait for vehicles traveling from north on Oakdale Dr to west on W Bloomfield Rd.

Our school bus driver says the light barely stays green long enough for her to get from Oakdale to Basswood daily. Can this green light time be extended a bit, please?

School bus drivers are complaining the light barely stays green long enough to get from Oakdale through the light to Basswood or to turn left. This is my 2nd time putting in this request as I was told this light is maintained by the state and I would need to contact INDOT. I did that and they referred me back to you. Here is the e-mail I received from them regarding this:

Dear Ms. Silvernail,
Thank you for contacting the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT). The intersection of W Bloomfield Road and Oakdale Drive/S Basswood Drive is outside of INDOT jurisdiction. Those roads are city streets under the jurisdiction of the City of Bloomington.
I understand that you contacted them already, but I can confirm that they are city streets, which INDOT does not maintain. Here is the link to their website: https://bloomington.in.gov/departments/public-works/street and phone number: 812-349-3448.
You can stay informed 24/7 by visiting 511in.org or by downloading INDOT TrafficWise in the app store. Spring forward into safety! Buckle Up, Phone Down.
Sincerely,
Kendall Miller
