My basement has flooded due to street runoff twice within the last 7 years and has ruined my furnace and water heater. I am requesting the city pour a curb along the front of my street where my house is facing to prevent future damage.
I am a homeowner with storm drainage infrastructure running alongside and underneath my yard. The majority of the Cascade Neighborhood drains though here and the conduit along Skyline is crumbling and heavily damaged. This needs to be repaired in order to accommodate the volume of water now common in our storms. Further, I am concerned that the underground portion is compromised. I see several sinkholes in my yard from subsidence. There are actually two conduits running though - one from alongside my yard, and another that runs from across the street in my neighbors yard. Additionally, there was a portion of erosion along my back fenceline that had eroded around a city sewer access point. Since the city came to fill this, I have had flooding in my garage - correlated to this directly. I have owned my home for over 10 years and am noticing the impacts of hydrostatic pressure in my basement - am issue I’ve never had before. I am concerned that the many city lines that run though my yard are compromised- leading to this problem. I would greatly appreciate meeting with a utilities manager to discuss these issues and have a scope of these lines performed.
The new builders on the corner of Covenanter Drive and High Street installed a pipe last week. Our concern is that the pipe was not installed low enough to keep the flow of water continuing to High street and beyond. With the rainy season coming...we are concerned that the pipe will make water back up on our property. The city just spent two weeks closing off High street to fix this issue and now we are concerned that the new builders have just put something in (but not properly installed it) so they could have a little rock culvert to get to their property off of Covenanter Drive. I sent an email to Vic Kelson and Brandon Prince on Thursday, but never heard back from them. I am writing again because we would like this matter to be taken care of now before they get more involved with building and it is too late to fix the problem. I would appreciate if somebody would get back with me on this matter. Thank you.
I have a movie and many pictures to show that the new draining system on Covenanter Dr, between high street and Brooks Dr is overflowing and causing damage to properties.
I am having an issue with my front ditch flooding every time it rains. This picture was taken today (June 2nd, 2021) during the light rain we experienced throughout the day. When we receive heavy down pours or rain for multiple days the runoff storm water puts my mailbox post underwater. Which, over time, rots the post (I have recently had it replaced). When the front yard does flood the water travels across the road in a 30-40 foot wide swath, several inches deep. When dry, the culverts (under my driveway and the one going under the road) can be observed as 95-100% silted in and obstructed. I have noticed over the past couple of years where the city has had the utilities marked and the culvert marked going under the road. Other culverts in the Park RIdge neighborhood have been replaced or repaired except for the one in front of my residence. I would appreciate an update on when this issue will be addressed.
I am requesting a ditch or pipe be installed in the wooded easement south of my property that will move the water out to the storm drain that was recently installed last year on Waldron Street in front my house. On April 13th of this year, we received a lot of rain in just a couple hours and I noticed most of the water was coming from the wooded easement South of my house and running down into my yard, pooling up and overflowing down near my basement (where i've had flooding from the street runoff in years past). The swale to the west side of our home overfilled as storm water was backed up at the street drains which then flooded the window well to our basement on June 18-19. Although our yard is regularly flooded during heavy storms, the west swale was designed and dug by the City to carry excess water to the street. We believe this swale needs to be dug deeper and lined with rock to stop erosion from occurring to prevent future flooding of our basement. Please send an engineer to evaluate. This problem has been reported several times.
The whole stretch of East Moores Pike between Sare Rd and Andrew Circle needs drainage work. Whenever there's even a little rain the ground either side of the road drains into the road for a week after. There's black ice all over it pretty much all winter and it's a fast road on a steep hill. During even light rain it's deep enough to cause hydroplaning.
This property collects water in its basement, owner disposes of water by running a hose tube, to the property line, which causes soil erosion, utility pole erosion, and water on public sidewalk.
Huge drainage issue in the north bound lane. Super hazardous for 18 year old drivers leaving South HS. Watched several 'near misses' today
