Traffic Signals
State Road 46
- Case Date:
- 8/17/2015
Lights have been updated with sensors but the light from Curry Pike to 46 is green for much too long now. This causes a long backup in the turn lane from 46 W onto Curry Pike.

To turn right off Kimble onto West 3rd Street going west you sit through at least 7 traffic lights. Cars continue through intersection going west and you cannot pull onto 3rd Street when u have the right away from other vehicles blocking intersection illegally. the lights are not timed correctly and it is a major problem
Mid lane red light is out.
My wife and I live at 515 W 3rd st, in Prospect Hill. I would like to request a simple upgrade to the functionality of the pedestrian signals at the S. Rogers st. and W. 3rd st. traffic interchange. I will reference the City of Chicago as a best practice. In Chicago, in almost every intersection with a traffic light, all pedestrian signals utilize the following sequence: a) When the light turns green, the white walk icon light actuates. b) When the pedestrian signal reaches the 30 second level (sometimes more or less than 30 seconds, depending on the overall duration of the light), the white walk signal changes to a red blinking don't walk icon and countdown timer, which counts down the remaining walk time. c) When the timer reaches 0, the blinking light changes to a full red don't walk icon. This coincides with the traffic light turning yellow. d) This functionality is in place 24/7/365. This functionality provides crucially important situational information to both drivers and pedestrians on the status of the traffic light. This is especially important as we somewhat frequently witness incidents of road rage at this intersection, as an unintended consequence of the no right turn on red signage that has been placed at this intersection. I am generally supportive of the no right turn on red signs, but the signage has definitely created this new issue. Because this functionality already exists at this intersection (in some pedestrian signals, at some times of the day), there should not be any material cost to make this change. It will require a technician to modify the code in the microprocessor that controls the lights. Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to discuss further. Thank you. pedestrian signal is mistimed in both directions. very short period for walking followed by 30+ seconds of don't walk BEFORE light on Atwater turns green; this is a major pedestrian crossing and pedestrian is strongly incentivized to ignore don't walk signal rather than waste time standing at corner
The traffic signals at 3rd & Bypass / College Mall Rd could use some reprogramming. Westbound traffic turning south onto College Mall gets backed up at the signal just to the south, to the extent that vehicles are blocking the intersection waiting to turn left on red. Today it was bad enough that eastbound traffic was unable to proceed through an entire cycle. Not one single vehicle got through. Also, some vehicles clearly enter on yellow (or even on red) to turn left, even though the driver can easily see that he will be unable to proceed through the intersection before the signal goes red. A camera to catch such violations would be great.
The left turn arrows for E. Moores Pike onto S. College and S. Sare cycle to short which causes traffic to back up both hills, to the round-about and to the movie theatre entrance. Then cars run the red once it goes green for College and Sare.
About 5:10 pm today (5 March) I stopped at the signal at Moore's Pike and College Mall Rd. I was waiting to make a westbound thru movement toward Hillside Ave. After two cycles wherein every other movement (including WB to SB) got a green, I still had not gotten the green light for a WB thru. Traffic had backed up the hill, out of sight, so I made a right turn when safe to do so, and took an alternate route home.
All of the traffic signals on the intersection of W 3rd Street and South Rogers Street AS WELL AS W 3rd Street and South Madison Street (separate report filed) are NOT ON. It is as if they do not have any power.
