At Leonard Springs nature park someone has spray painted “F*** Capitalism” on the side of the old concrete damn wall. It looks relatively fresh.
Second camp in muller
A campsite has been created in the Griffy Woods, just south of the North-most entrance to the trail system on Dunn street (south of the top of the hill/Dam). A path has been cleared off of the trail to the campsite area and a large area has been cleared for the campsite. There is a tent set up with gear, etc. present.
A signpost has apparently rotted and is now down next to the path indicating the start of the Bloomington Rail Trail where it splits off from the Clear Creek Trail, just past the pedestrian circle. This is at the south end of the trail, facing north towards That Road. The remaining standing post has a broken reflector.
Complaint of high brush growing out into road, obstructing view of trail crossing. Located at the intersection of Gordon Pike and the Bloomington Rail Trail. The brush makes it almost impossible for cars to see pedestrians crossing the street on the trail. Request brush to be trimmed.
A fence has been bent down over the B-Line near where it ends at Adams St. Along the top edge of the fence, is sharply pointed barbed wire. This is positioned above the trail precisely where it will catch a cyclist in his face causing severe injury. This is such a very dangerous situation that it should be taken care of with the highest priority.
I was biking on the B-line, heading south between Rogers and the Showers plaza. There was an MSI guy in one of those little cars they have in the right hand lane. The little car takes up the whole lane and he was driving slowly, which is fine, but I wanted to pass him. So I crept into the left hand lane, craning my neck to make sure there was no one oncoming while I passed. But while I was doing that, the MSI driver started to drift into the left hand lane as well! I didn't know what to make of that so I braked. As I tried to pass again, I tried calling out but I don't know if he heard me. Those things have right-hand drive, so he was on the opposite side of the car from me and as I crept past, it seems he was looking in his right mirror? Anyway please remind them to maintain their lanes or at least to look all around before deviating from their path. Thanks!
This description of the Clear Creek trail has two errors: 20.8 acres stretching 2.4 miles from Country Club Drive past Tapp Road to Church Lane, and connecting to the existing Bloomington Rail Trail. The trail does not start from Country Club, it starts from Tapp Road. It crosses both Rockport Road and That Road before getting to Church Lane.
1. That Rd. parking lot. There is a Sycamore tree at the far end, near the handicap parking space and the bicycle rack, that is really starting to lean to the northwest. The trunk is rotting/decaying and looks to be about a 1/3 gone. You may want to consider taking this tree down. 2.The 2 security lights at the Church Lane parking lot are not working. Would it be possible to have at least one of them turned on? This would be beneficial, especially now that the trail is being extended south of Church Lane. I'm assuming that there will be more foot/vehicle traffic in the near future. Thank you for your considerations. Bob Rosenberger 812-824-2169
