Hello, My name is Jacob and I am a Recreation Supervisor with Lee’s Summit Parks and Recreation in Missouri. We are conducting a review of our current Inclement Weather Policies and are reaching out to various other departments around the country. We are looking for any information regarding the following: • Weather Policies regarding Extreme Heat and Lightning during outside events and activities. • Methods used to detect lightning (Weather Apps, Specific Equipment such as lightning detectors, Payed services) • If you have separate policies for different facilities. (i.e. Outdoor pools, Amphitheaters, Outdoor fields and Sports complexes) Any information that you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached at jacob.johnson@cityofls.net or 816-969-1544. Thank you,
Hello, I love the new look and feel of your website, but I'm having trouble signing up for a fall Parks and Rec program. I got the brochure in the mail over the weekend, but any documentation for classes is either for summer or for fall 2017. When do you expect for this to be updated with fall 2018 information?
Please add me to your Parks and Rec Program Guide mailing list: Lauryl Lefebvre 115 N College Ave #211 Bloomington, IN 47404 Thank you!
Want to add Bloomington Community Band to Calendar of Events and links to Arts organizations.
I tried to register for tennis lessons online, but when I click on "register", the result page says "no activity found" https://bloomington.in.gov/webtrac/cgi-bin/wspd_cgi.sh/wbsearch.html?xxmod=AR&xxtype=ADUSP&wbsi=989e95f1-af59-8885-e611-af1eea7d9e74
Re: Non-inclusive equipment at Griffy Lake- Hello, I am an avid Kayaker and was excited to learn of Griffy's addition of 6 kayaks. My husband and I had visited several times and enjoyed the canoes (there were never kayaks available) and were glowing with praise for our new favorite lake. (photo attached). My excitement soon turned to bitter disappointment, and at this point I have no desire to return to Griffy. My husband and I rented a car to visit, only to be turned away (after the woman behind the counter looked me up and down) for being too large to ride. The kayaks at Griffy are the smallest size made with the lowest weight limit on the market. This is not inclusive. I urge you to consider adding a larger models that accommodate adult kayakers. This would better serve the community and prevent others from having this embarrassing, expensive, and horribly negative experience. Thank you for your consideration. Andrea McManis
Kitty Robinson and myself have a total of 4 raised garden plots. We are unable to take care of them so if the food bank group wants to go see if there is anything they can get they are more than welcome to it. There might still be tomatoes.
Hi, Is Hilltop still a part of the Bloomingto Parks and Rec. Department? Visited recently and was really surprised to see how far the program has drifted from its original mission as a youth gardening program. With the money provided by Dr. Shalucha and the funds raised for the new gardening house and greenhouses, I feel that the youth gardening program should be the major focus of the garden and not a free family gardening spot. Any way to bring the original Hilltop back? Mary Hursh
Hello. We've been enjoying Ferguson Dog Park with our one-year-old puppy. Thank you! It's a good crowd of dogs (and owners) and, with our tiny yard in Elm Heights, it's been a wonderful place to let Teddy run around. In talking with my many dog-owning/dog-walking/tiny-yard neighbors, we have wondered if it would be possible to have an area of Bryan Park fenced off for dogs. I'm sure cost would be an issue but perhaps Bloomington residents could contribute matching funds? Besides cost, are there other prohibitive restrictions that would make a dog area an impossibility? Thank you for your time. Best, Cate Racek
