After the last garbage pickup, my grey bin (for regular garbage) has been cracked after being tossed on the sidewalk. I understand that it can happen but now it’s all cracked and I wanted to know how can it be replaced. Thank you

I’m writing with deep concern about the potential impact of the fiber optic project at our home at 809 S. Stull Ave. On Nov. 25, a work crew moved heavy equipment onto our property and proceeded to operate with no advance warning or permission. We are currently out of town for the holiday, and a neighbor took the attached photo. We are astounded not only at the trespass, but also at the potential damage. We just spent significant money and time purchasing and planting bushes and several trees in the area where the crew was working. We are concerned also about our recently laid sewer line, and about the drilling of holes (see photo) directly next to a very large pin oak tree. We won’t be home and able to assess any damage ourselves until Dec. 8 but are anxious to hear from you ASAP about 1) recourse if there is damage to our property, and 2) city policy regarding work crews entering private property without warning or authorization.

Over the past year and a half I have asked HAND and Sarge Rentals to remove the garbage cans from the tree row of the 600 block of University St. HAND finally tild me they were fining the rooming house at 624 S Fess. That did not help. I asked Sarge Rentals to remove the Rumpke trash and recycling bins once they switched over to Avas. They did not. Now the Avas bins are in the tree row along with the Rumpke ones and another waste basket (see picture). When I moved here 30 years ago I went to a city meeting to complain about the trash at the rooming house. The problem was remedied by placing a dumpster in the alley behind the building. That was replaced by the Rumpke bins. None of the residents nor Sarge move the bins from the tree row after trash is taken. No other homes on University St behave in this manner. PLEASE DO SOMETHING TO REMEDY THIS EYESORE!

Cars always parked alongside the bus stop where the wheelchair ramp is bus turning off of West 15th can often not see people over SUVs and trucks parked along there I believe the city ordinances no parking but cars continue to park there because there is no sign or curb painted with enough room for the bus to pull over to the right almost missed the bus to work because people am small and cars were blocking as usual and people feel unsafe walking between cars to run out into the road and wave down the bus. A person in a wheelchair can certainly not be seen and would have difficulty Wheeling out into the street to the bus because there is not room for the bus to pull over and lower the lift on to the ramp attaching the road to the sidewalk have people called City police for towing multiple times police drive close by look over and then drive away doing nothing

The FBI is advising Americans to avoid sending text messages. A lot of city business is conducted via text. Is the city considering issuing some kind of guidance on this topic? And more broadly, is the city considering any changes to its cell phone policy? As it stands many employees are expected/required to use their personal devices for work, and they are not eligible for a city issued phone and there is no option for a stipend. Thank you.

I was thinking of applying for the vacancy on the bicyclist and pedestrian commission. To learn more about the commission, I attempted to read the commission’s minutes. They are nearly incomprehensible, at least to an outsider, with little punctuation, run-on sentences and a total lack of context. The minutes are not a helpful tool for people to learn about what the commission does, which one would think is the point of a public record.

Subject: Complaint Regarding Property at 402 E 1st Street Dear Bloomington Town Department, I am writing to formally report an ongoing issue at the property located at 402 E 1st Street. Early this morning (December 6), while cleaning up trash that had blown into my yard, I noticed excessive garbage left in their backyard. The bags are torn open, and the mess has begun attracting animals; just last week, while I was traveling, several neighbors reported seeing a coyote in the area. This property, which is a rental, has been a recurring source of disruption in our neighborhood. In addition to improper waste disposal, previous incidents have included: • Smoking cannabis openly in the backyard. • Loud parties continuing until 4:00 a.m. • Unauthorized backyard fires without proper safety measures like a firepit. • Failure to maintain the property, such as leaving fallen leaves uncollected. I kindly request the town to investigate these concerns and take appropriate action to address the situation, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. If I must report my concerns to another department, please forward the infromation. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

The two lights in the alley along the west wall of the 4th Street parking garage are out. The one closest to the photographer in this photo has been out since a few weeks after the garage opened. I would suspect that they are both still under warranty. The alley is pretty dark, the photo is misleading as to the light level there.
