The unhoused encampment behind the IMI concrete plant on private property has continued to get out of control. This has been cleared out already and has now grown to the largest size to date. We have seen 50+ people on a daily basis back and forth. More and more of the unhoused have been cutting through private property on Cherokee Drive, leaving trash in yards, starting fights in the area, and continuing to scope out an abandoned house at the end of Cherokee to which the cops have been called out to at least twice. There is a brand new subdivision being built at the end of Cherokee and the area is finally being built up along with the addition of Switchyard Park. Bloomington has numerous services for the unhoused but camping on private property and causing issues to nearby neighborhoods should not be tolerated. The fear in the area is that this is becoming more and more unsafe as this encampment continues to grow in size. Please address this increasingly dangerous situation as soon as possible.

Citizen says she saw trash crew throw her can and it was airborne for about 10 feet. Says she constantly finds her cans all over the yard. Understands that we can't replace all cans neatly where they were found, but thinks crews could take more care in handling her trash cans.

The tree inside the large dog park has a large diameter dip around the base of it. This dip is constantly filled with very rank smelling water and I along with all other dog owners have discussed how unhappy we are that we must bathe our dogs anytime we take them to get exercise. My dog needs consistent exercise and the best way to do this is at the dog park, but constant bathing can cause skin to dry out. At one point, the city had placed a temporary barrier around it so I believed there was hope for a solution, but since then the barrier has been taken down.

Actual address is 712 N. Oolitic but the GIS won't pinpoint there - city Ash tree back corner beside alley.
Any updates? I am more than ready to re-seed the area once the tree and stump are removed.

Referencing case #168961 which was filed 6/14/19. I contacted Lee Huss several months even before that. I just spent $4000.00 on tree work and am about to spend another $4000.00 to remove and prune old and dangerous trees on my property. All I have asked of Forestry is to remove one City tree. ONE. It's an Ash that is covered with vines and is 1/2 dead if not completely dead. Not only is its health an issue, but there has been no question in the past about removing City Ash trees because of the emerald Ash borer. Lee Huss told me that it would be removed, but it has not. I am ready and willing to clear and reseed the area once the tree and stump are removed. I have been patient because I realize that I'm not the only tree in the City. However, I also realize my tree is in an area of the City that often gets dismissed. I would like to have the sick, invasive vine-covered, and potentially infested, City tree (including the stump) that is restricting my ability to landscape and improve my property to the level that I wish, removed. Thank you.
The tree is on the City right-of-way at the back (northeast) corner of 712 N. Oolitic St. - where the gravel alley intersects with W. 12th Street.

8:04pm, Friday, November 8, 2024: A Marshall Security vehicle came out of Switchyard Park on the west side along Rogers without stopping, turned south on Rogers in front of traffic, and had a single headlight and a single taillight and no turn signals used. This was a small vehicle that has a small truck bed to it they use for patrols. This is not the first time I have seen Marshall Security disregarding traffic laws in that vehicle. Can the City address this? They need to repair the burnt out headlight and taillight as it is illegal to operate a licensed motor vehicle on the streets without those.

The city is digging in the drainage ditch on my property again. They do this from time to time without reason. No one contacts me EVER to say hey we are gonna mess up your yard. I pay someone to trim this area of my yard and after they dig they leave it uneven and hard for someone to take care of. Last time they left a CBU sign up for 4 months and then came back after I called to complain and removed the sign and spread grass seed and straw. It makes my property look like shit.

At about 8:30pm on 9/25/2024 a Marshall Security guy in a golf cart was blinding me and a friend with very bright LED lights as we were walking in Switchyard Park. This is unprofessional and unacceptable behavior the City must address with a contractor hired to keep the community safe. We were on a walking path that runs from the north side of the Skatepark to the B-Link crossing at Walnut. We were east of the skatepark and over the bridge before getting to the fence at Stryker Towing. This guy on the golf cart had his cart pointed from east to west in the middle of the path, right at us. The headlights are incredibly and painfully bright to look at in the night, causing us to shield our eyes to try to continue walking. He did not turn the lights off or try to angle away from us. He just sat there, pointing these very bright, LED lights right at us. The lights seem to be angled up and likely not the factory installed lights on the golf cart, something after market, intended to intentionally and knowingly render people unable to see as they approach.

Our neighborhood has reported this resident multiple times and the city has done absolutely nothing to correct the issues on this property.
This property is a literal junk yard, and when I say literal, I mean this without any exaggeration. It is littered with trash, abandoned vehicles, broken appliances scattering the entire yard.
My kids go outside to play and are bombarded with mosquitoes that live in the water-logged abandoned junk all over the property.
Can someone from the city please address this since the other departments are not addressing it?
