I noticed including my ureports that were assigned to her way over a month ago about city tree trimming has not been addressed. So I'm not sure if she doesn't work for the city and it's not being assigned to no one. Or someone isn't really doing their job. Thanks for your time.

News just broke about the redevelopment of yet another downtown property, this time on Kirkwood. Proposals for changing the cultural feel, look, and integrity of our beloved town should require better public notice of being on an agenda for vote. This occurs not just for the planning commission, but other city meetings as well. Turning our town into a cityscape of 3+ stories everywhere is not the “Bloomington feel” that is supposed to be at the heart of every project, and it is not what alumni and townies for decades have fallen in love with and raised their families here for. Do better with actually listening to residents’ thoughts as a whole for the town, not just the elite your admin has chosen to sit on a council/commission (especially those made up of “representatives” who live in $500k+ properties and do not have a pulse for the majority of permanent residents that live and work in this town). When one thinks of Bloomington, the residents can assure you it is not being surrounded by brick, large buildings, and lack of flora when walking or driving through any part of town. However, this is what this administration is turning Bloomington into - large, brick (purdue-eque), concrete and blacktop filled spaces with a lack of culture and quirky original Bloomington feel. A shame that I would need to relocate from my hometown and family to better embody this original appeal of Bloomington.

I just watched someone get a ticket warning for being parked on the grass in front of the house they live in. There is absolutely nothing that necessitates a law to prevent people from parking on sand, grass, dirt, or any other “unapproved surface”. If the property isn’t city owned and funded why would a person need to move their vehicle? Damage to their lawn is their business and they can reseed if they want to? Does the city also require perfectly grown grass on every lawn? The car is off the street. It is not preventing traffic or any permitted parking from occurring. The only reason you would pass such a law is to require the owner of said property to pay the money to pave so that the neighborhood “looks” a certain way or pay you to park on the street that they don’t need to use. There is no point in buying property if you can’t park your car wherever you’d like on it. I’m not the person who got the warning but it’s ridiculous for the local government to try to bully people into buying street parking permits from you. This city ordinance requiring a particular parking surface is completely unreasonable and it erases the meaning of property. I know absolutely no one will read this or care and that you will all just keep unreasonably ticketing people but just in case a single person actually cares I’ll send this message.
With the new administration incoming, will there be a renewed focus on female centered solutions for various items in city hall? The women’s bathrooms have gaping cracks in the stalls which lack privacy, there is a bolt missing in a lock that creates a peep hole, and the breastfeeding privacy area is a curtain at the entrance of the 1st floor bathroom which provides little to no privacy as folks can see into the area when the door opens and you can clearly see shoes and who’s in the area below the curtain. It is difficult to report these issues on the internal system as they require a lot of information and cannot be reported anonymously by staff who just simply seek workplace improvements and equity. Why is the expansion of the showers building into the west not for the expansion of city hall? This seems most logical as there are employees spilling into hallways, lack of meeting rooms, lack of parking, and no need to move those (police and fire) into a smaller space when they both respectively have their own headquarters. Very puzzling choices
What happened to the employee clinic that had funds allocated for it to be in place by end of 2023? Yet again another example of staff being told they have x number of dollars worth of benefits when in fact that benefit does not exist or is not applicable to certain (all in this case) employees. There should be plans or information made publicly available in regard to this and yet nothing has been sent out or an update provided. When is this to be expected?
What benefits are to be applicable to all employees in the upcoming year? This information is not easily available as certain programs were passed and allocated funding for apparently only a “trial basis”. Is paid parental leave still occurring? No information about this has been provided to staff or public for 2024. Additionally, where are the results of the salary study that was supposed to inform this upcoming years budget (voted on in 2023)? This information will already be behind, and the COLA is behind as it is not keeping pace with inflation or similar employers (see the County at 8.5% raise for 2024). Is any information going to be provided about how these things previously voted on by council are implemented, working, not working, etc.?
