Mr. Ward called to let us know that on several occasions he has seen folks drive back to the Wapehani Bike Park and dump brush and other debris. He knows what they're doing is illegal but doesn't want to get in trouble trying to catch them! He lives at the corner of Wapehani/Weimer roads and uses the park frequently and wants to see it taken care of. Also, has some questions about off-roading in the big open field by the park. The Push Place playground is in horrible disrepair. Is anything ever going to be done by way of maintenance? It looks like nothing positive has been done there since the '80s.
Vegetation is encroaching into the walking/running trail around Winslow Sports Park on both the east and west sides.
The safety swing no longer latches and isn’t safe to use
Last February we reached out and requested that Parks clear several downed trees along the hiking trail behind Twin Lakes for our run group route. Parks came out within a couple days and cleared all of the downed trees including one huge one. I don't think I sent anything at the time but just wanted to give everyone a huge thank you for doing that for us - it helped so much. Everyone in our run group really appreciated the responsiveness and efforts from parks staff. Thank you so much!
I found the metal sign for not smoking in the children's play area ripped off and left along Longview Avenue. I brought it up to the play area and put it under the oak tree along the SW edge of the park. There I also found two wood rails that might have been the base for the sign, and a fresh hole.
Despite all of the spraying for teasel, a large patch remains beside the southernmost chimney swift tower.
