Wildflowers along trail in Olcott Woods. I was saddened to find this spring that placing lights along this trail involved digging up a considerable amount of ground along the trail that has been home to many wildflowers. It is now covered with clumps of clay soil. Is something else going to be done to prevent erosion and ameliorate the loss of the plants?
Bryan Park, west side of the stream that runs into Sheridan Creek near the bridge just north of restrooms. PLEASE advise mowers to mow the ragweed that grows all along there. Last year what wasn't mowed grew 3-4 feet high, flowered, and released the pollen many people are allergic to. The whole slope down from the picnic shelter in the background is full of ragweed but it got mowed and nev0er flowered. Thanks!!
1. That Rd. parking lot. There is a Sycamore tree at the far end, near the handicap parking space and the bicycle rack, that is really starting to lean to the northwest. The trunk is rotting/decaying and looks to be about a 1/3 gone. You may want to consider taking this tree down. 2.The 2 security lights at the Church Lane parking lot are not working. Would it be possible to have at least one of them turned on? This would be beneficial, especially now that the trail is being extended south of Church Lane. I'm assuming that there will be more foot/vehicle traffic in the near future. Thank you for your considerations. Bob Rosenberger 812-824-2169

There are two parks at Bryan Park. I’m specifically talking about the one that is designated for younger kids. Today, my son and I were playing with other kids his age (2.5) when a large group of kids (average age: 8) showed up with two caregivers. The older kids were pushing and shoving on the play structure, creating a danger for younger kids. My question is: is there an age limit imposed for use of that particular playground? My understanding is that it is for kids 5 and under. What can I do to help impose this? It’s definitely a safety issue for smaller children when the older children begin climbing up the slides (yes, inside, and on the outside) and crowding and pushing on the platforms.
I've recently noticed the Rail Trail between Country Club Drive and Gordon Pike has sections of large gravel (see attached photo). I appreciate that maintenance is being done, assuming the City is responsible for this work. But, I am concerned because this large gravel is inconsistent with the existing surface for the trail. As a bike commuter and runner on this section of the trail, I was disappointed to see large gravel appear on the surface. The Rail Trail is a great surface to run and walk on and commute on. These patches of large gravel pieces diminish it's utility and enjoyment. Are there plans to use large gravel more often on the trail? I request that the smaller, packed surface be maintained. There are two trees down crossing the B line trail north of the trail view neighborhood.
Two trees are down on the B-Line in between Adams and Moravec Streets, both closer to the latter. One is making the trail nearly impassable.
Some of these swings in Bryan Park has been squealing for years. Need oiling.
