Inaccessible Parking

111 West 7th Street

Case Date:
7/6/2018

My boyfriend and I went downtown to visit the vape shop and eat Tacobell. He has an artificial leg and is unable to walk long distances. There was no street parking available, so we parked at Taco Bell and just walked to the vape shop. After all we planned on eating dinner there and it wasn't a long trip for his leg. Less than 20 minutes later as we are walking back to taco bell and we notice our car being towed. The car was still in the lot when we stopped the driver. He charged us $85 cash and would have charged $220 if we could only pay by card because he would have had to take it all the way to the tow yard. All of this because a handicap man wanted to visit the vape store before dinner. The car was clearly marked as a handicapped vehicle. There needs to either be allowances made for those who are disabled or more handicap street parking available.

Having just retired and buying kayaks for our anniversary...we were dismayed to find that it would cost us $14 every time we wanted to float on Griffey Lake less than a mile from our house! This is NOT right. Indiana only charged us $5 each for all lakes for all of 2018!! How could our home town be so FUBAR...?!

Excessive Growth

2800 South Brookside Drive

Case Date:
7/5/2018

The empty lot at this location has a giant Beech? tree right at the edge of the property that rains leaves, branches, and bark down onto my property (105 E Sunny Slopes Dr). Probably not much can be done about that, but the giant tree is also leaning sharply toward my house! I have no idea how to contact the owner and alert him/her to that accident just waiting to happen. I don't want to lose one end of my house WHEN that tree falls. Please advise... Thank you. Thank you for the awesome community fireworks display downtown! It brought neighbors out onto our porches and sidewalks to witness the display over our Near Westside neighborhood. I love the idea of continuing the fireworks display downtown in future years. It makes it so much more of a community event instead of something that happens on the outskirts of town. Chapeau to those who came up with the idea.
