Wednesday, August 9 The catch basin on the west side of the street just north of where the Indiana Rail Road crosses Pete Ellis Drive seems to be plugged somewhere underneath the road. Debris doesn’t pile up on the grate the way it used to, and the large puddle I observed after this afternoon’s thunderstorm was draining only slowly. Right in the middle of the intersection of 7th/Grant is a metal plate that is damaged and dangerous. It is not as big as a sewer manhole or even a water-meter cover. It is about 7" in diameter and appears to have been painted bright blue, but the entire center of the plate is missing, leaving a hole that one could step into and twist an ankle or a small animal could fall in there and not be able to escape. We called the City Streets department about this awhile back and made a verbal report, but nothing has been done about this. That was probably a month ago.

Raw sewage from cleanout all over between sidewalk and street. This has happened sporadically for years, but several times in the last month.

There is a sewer access in the verge in front/slightly to the west of 930 w 6th. It looks like it has overflowed with sewage waste. It has happened a couple of times before and I believe it was cleaned up but this week it overflowed badly again and there’s currently no cap on the pipe.

Sewer is backing up into the basement of the home. The plumber ran 100 ft of sewer cable through the basement cleanout. Pulled back wipes and roots. Line not open. Tested line by flushing toilet and running kitchen sink. Line tested bad. There’s only 55 ft from basement drain to middle of the street. Plumber ran 100ft of Sewer cable without meeting obstruction.

There are holes in our line: one under the sidewalk, one under the street. They need to be fixed ASAP (we discovered the holes when a plumber was clearing a major clog the holes caused) and we need to know whose responsibility it is to take care of the issues under the road/sidewalk. The estimated cost of repair is incredibly high, and we're trying to find out what options/assistance might be available. Thank you for any information you can provide!

As can be seen in the photo there are three dry creek beds (swales) feeding the area where the runoff water is pooling during a heavy rain fall. Cause of the pooling is the drain through a small ridge is eroded and clogged up. City needs to remedy this issue.
