I was burning leaves today, unaware of the city policy. The fire department came to my house, kindly asked me to extinguish the fire, and informed me about our policy. Even though I had done wrong, they were kind and helpful, which made it a pleasant learning experience for me. I love that in a town this size, people are so friendly and positive. Thank you city of Bloomington.

Hello, I wish to voice my concern in the nicest way possible. I am not asking for compensation or threatening to sue. I just want to bring light to a situation that is possibly hazardous and/or costly. As I was biking to a meeting at work last night, I ran over a large steel plate in the middle of College Ave. It is in front of the construction site where the Waffle House used to be. It nearly threw me off my bike, and I could have easily been run over by other cars. Luckily, it just popped both my tires and no further damage was taken. I would love to see a warning sign, or some sort of reflective material on these large steel plates in the future. Just something to thank about. I thank you in advance for your responsiveness. I received a parking ticket on 11/09/2013 due to incorrect signage for the new parking meters. It is not clear which meter is for a specific parking space in front of Le Petit Cafe on 6th Street on the north side of the street. It is not clear that the space farthest to the east just next to the rails-to-trails path is a valid parking spot since the east side of the space has a yellow curb. Yellow curbs typically indicate "no parking." this are needs better signage. That space isn't even wide enough for the average car if it is even supposed to be a parking space. The curb should be repainted to clearly indicate if it is a parking space or not.
The new bridge over the creek is extremely slippery in the morning, when wet. I was not prepared and I fell. A little black and blue, but nothing broken. I suggest putting those granular non-skid surfaces on the steps particularly, and perhaps a warning sign.
When traveling W. on Kirkwood and coming to the light at Adams, there are 2 left turn lanes but no good markings to guide cars to their respective lanes on Adams. We were almost hit by a car next to us that drifted into our lane as we turned. You need to put some nice wide solid white arcs to prevent an accident there.
The left lane that used to go straight through on college avenue past the Marriott near 3rd street has now stopped and the city has placed these large curbs that jut out into the street. I have seen several cars run into them, slam on their breaks and close calls and accidents there. who is making these decisions to place medians and curbs that narrow the street access. the city of bloomington is becoming very difficult to access in a car. they have made it hard to see the roads at night. another area is the median they placed on 10th street near the bypass. I have seen people swerve to miss it and find the narrow road to access 10th going to campus. with all of the visiting parents and travelers that come to the city and campus, you would think the engineers would widen roads and make things more accessible instead of causing areas where accidents are more likely to happen. especially there on college avenue across from the convention center.
Hello, There are quite a few dead animals on West Kirkwood between Rogers and Rose Hill cemetery including a skunk, raccoon, squirrel, and the remains of another skunk. Please send someone by to remove them. Thank you.
Every time there is a football game at Memorial Stadium, they set off fireworks or cannons or something. Sometimes, like last night, they set them off after 10 and it seems like I've heard them even later than that. Does IU request an exemption to the noise ordinance? If so, why is it granted? Me and my sleepy infant son would like to know. Thanks.
There is a dangerous section of the blue slide at the Lower Cascades playground. Linda Ebright was going down the slide with her 3 year old daughter when she went around the bend in the slide she says she hit her head and might have a concussion. She talked to a coworker who experienced the same thing at an earlier date. She would like to be contacted about this issue.
