Fire Department
The City of Bloomington Fire Department serves the city of Bloomington, Indiana University, and Salt Creek and Polk Townships. Our department provides fire suppression, life-threatening emergency medical services and rescue services for vehicle accidents and other rescue needs. We have an extremely dedicated team to provide our community protection before, during and after emergencies, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our department has 99 full-time firefighters devoted to protecting the community. The department also employs seven full-time and one part-time office staff that includes the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief of Administration, Deputy Chief of Operations, Battalion Chief of Training, Fire Prevention Officer, Fire Inspection Officer and two administrative assistants.
